This was a fabulous sequel to Queen of Hearts: The Crown. Instead of living in the posh palace in Wonderland Proper, we find Dinah on the run, being hunted down for a murder she didn't commit, in the Twisted Wood.
I was captivated with Colleen Oakes' excellent, flowing writing. The pacing was nice and steady with something always happening to keep this reader happy. I was impressed with the character development as we probed further into this saga, and loved the new characters that were introduced.
Dinah definitely is one tough cookie but, I can see how these events eventually attribute to her becoming the cold hearted, off with their head's shouting woman we all know from the classic Alice in Wonderland story. I could almost feel the maliciousness seeping into her during the final moments of this story. Still, I seriously had some feels for this girl. Somehow this author has changed my opinion of this future Red Queen.
Unlike the first novel in this saga, this one leaves the reader with a clean cut, satisfying ending. Especially after all of the juicy tidbits that were revealed, answering all of my questions that carried over from book #1. But the ending will still leave you wanting more of Dinah's story. I really need to get my hands on the next installment asap.
