Mo_Books News

It has been a great summer and I'm really sad to see it end :( but I'm still happy to have the regularity of autumn life come back into play. As much as I love summer it can become chaotic and I never seem to know what day of the week it is lol.

 I've signed up for a few new blog tours, the first being for 15 Minutes by Jill Cooper. Hosted by Shane @ itching for books, Its a thrilling, time traveling adventure and I can't wait to share my review. My tour stop date is September 19th, hope you come and check it out.

Question

Have you ever ended up reading a book with its last or last few pages missing? What book was it? And how did you managed to get to the end?

My Answer

  I can't imagine reading and enjoying a great book only to discover that the last few pages wrote missing. Oh the horror! It would most likely drive me slightly crazy until I found another copy. Thankfully this has never happened to me. I've spent a lot of years buying second hand books and I always look in the back to make sure that its completely intact. I can be a bit OCD about these things lol.

My Review

 Alex's story continues in Pure with the lingering fear of half bloods now being turned into daimons. Since half blood daimons were undetectable, they could easily infiltrate the covenant and this had everyone on edge. There were strick new rules and Alex as always had a problem with following them. Her failure to listen brings her ultimate heartache and unfortunately that was only the beginning of Alex's troubles. Then thrown into the mix is her feelings for Aiden, the off limits pure blood that she has dreamt about for so long, and Seth, her Apollyon other half.

 Okay so I loved Daimon and Half-Blood and if its even possible, I loved this book more. This story just continues to get better and better. Once again Jennifer Armentrout's mix of mystery, action, romance and witty banter had my eyes glued to the pages.

 Here are a few reasons why I loved it so much. Alex - I can't think of a better heroine right now. She is brave and scared at the same time, hard and soft shelled and she knows how to throw down. Not to mention how quick she is with a comeback. Caleb - the cream of the crop when it comes to best friends and the only one that Alex trusts enough to share what she's really feeling with. Seth - is a whole lot of awesomeness! He is caring, protective, funny, sexy and I could just go on and on. There was one particular scene when Alex and Seth went swimming, I thought it was so hot! the words were sizzling off the pages faster then I could read them.

 The Breeding Order thing definitely gets a rise out of me. Hopefully at some point in time in this series all of the ministers that agree with the idea that half bloods are much lesser beings and that they deserve their place in the covenant get what's coming to them.

The only parts of the story that dragged for me was the training that Alex did with Aiden. Perhaps this is why I liked reading about Seth more.

 So in closing I would like to add that I would highly recommend this awesome series to any fan of YA. I heard a fair amount of hype about these books and was slightly reluctant to believe that they were as good as everyone was saying but I was 100% not disappointed. Everything they said was true.
I give Pure a 5 out of 5 stars.

 I really enjoyed Aimee's writing in the Goddess Test series. It was easy to read and the story flowed along wonderfully. Pawn sounds like something I will love and I can't wait to read it and find out.

Simon - The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

 Oh man did I ever love Simon! I preferred him so much more then I did Jace, sorry ladies.

2. 

Jackal - The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

 Jackal added a lot of entertainment to the story and I enjoyed every scene that included him.

3. 

Magnus Bane - The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

 I am a huge fan of all things Magnus Bane. He added a awesome splash of color to both series, I just want to read more and more about him.

4. 

James - The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

I felt a much greater connection with James then I did with Henry in this series. I especially loved his story in The Goddess Legacy.

5.  

Grimalkin - The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa

 Grim was definitely my favorite character from this series. I guess I have a major soft spot for magical, talking cats.

6. 

Iko - Cinder by Marissa Meyer

 I can't begin to explain how much I I loved this sweet robot. She had a great personality and made a fantastic and loyal friend for Cinder.

Question

Book blogging is more than just reading. Who helped you set up or run your blog? Or did you do it all yourself?

My Answer

  I am very proud to say that I am completely self taught when it comes to blogging. I don't personally know anyone that has a blog, so when I started Mo_Books back in March I spent a lot of time researching everything I possibly could in an attempt to make my blog an appealing place to visit. I paid attention to what other bloggers posted and joined a great group on Goodreads called Blogger Lift. A few times a really wanted to pull my hair out, especially with the html/css stuff, but never once did I dream of giving up. I still learn new things everyday and I'm loving every minute of my blogging experience.

Why I want to read it

I loved exploring the Under the Never Sky series so far. There are many characters that I cant wait to read about again in this story and I'm hoping to see them all get some kind of happily ever after in Into the Still Blue. There was a perfect mix of dystopian, romance and adventure in this series and I hope to see it continued in the final book.

Top Ten Tuesday, #10 - Things That Make Your Life As A Reader/Book Blogger Easier

 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at  The Broke and the Bookish, and for this weeks TTT here is my list of Things That Make Your Life As A Reader/Book Blogger Easier.

1. My Tablet

 My Acer Iconia tab is my most favorite possession in the world. Its small and sets right on my lap and makes blogging way more comfortable then sitting at a desk with a computer.




2. CoolNote

 This is where I write all of the drafts for my reviews and posts. Cool notes work great with blogger so all I have to do is copy and paste it right onto blogger. The notes can be color coded which I find very useful for organizing posts like reviews, top ten Tuesday, new releases etc. It also works like a dream with the next on my list.


3. Cool Reader

  Is my ereader of choice, it has a sepia setting (its so much easier on my eyes), its simple to side load books onto it and if you like to take notes and highlight passages it does that too. I love highlighting stuff and then linking it to the cool notes app it makes reviewing books a lot easier.





4. Norli

   If I get a book from NetGalley or the library I unfortunately can't read it on the cool reader app so I read those books on this. It also easily side loads epub,mobi and PDF files, has a sepia setting and takes notes and highlights. All for free.






5. Goodreads

 I use Goodreads constantly. I'm always there checking for book covers, descriptions and links for purchasing books. I also am a member in a couple awesome groups.



6. Other bloggers

 Where would I be without the awesomeness of other bloggers? Everything I have learned about blogging has come from reading and learning from other peoples posts. Thanks everyone :D



7. NetGalley

 I love NetGalley! Its such a fantastic way to get noticed by publishers all while doing what you love, reading and reviewing books. I love picking through the great selection in the gallery and waiting to see if any publishers will pre approve my for whatever I want.




8. Halifax Public Libraries

 Long before there was the internet and ereaders you would most likely have always found my butt in the library. I adore it there, the smell, the atmosphere, not to mention all the awesome free activities and programs offered there. I still go there often even if its just to look around.




9.  Chapters/Indigo

 Chapter's, Indigo and Cole's are my favorite places to buy books. I could live in the big Chapters store in Halifax and be perfectly content.




10.  Post it notes

 When I review hardcovers and paperbacks post it notes are my best friends. When something happens in the book I want to remember I stick a tiny note, like a book mark, onto the page. Since the golden rule of reading is respecting the book, dog earing (folding) the page is a no no and post it notes make it easy not to.
