September Is For Sequels Reading Challenge

 I have decided to join a new reading challenge for the fall. It is called the September Is For Sequels and its hosted by Lisa @ Lisa Loves Literature.  I thought this would be a great chance to finish off the few sequels and finale books in a series that have seemed to build up on me.

Objective:
To read and review a minimum of 4 sequels between the dates of September 1st and 30th, 2014.

Here are the rules :

- The book must be a sequel - it can be any # in the series, just not the first book.
- Prequels can count if they were published AFTER the first one in the series.
- You can do e-books, even ARCs or e-galleys, as well as good old fashioned books.
- I'll even let you count the little 1.5 novellas that are often published as e-books only.
- The deadline to sign up and participate is September 15th.

 Hey guys! I wanted to share my first update on my progress for this challenge. I'm doing quite well and have read two books and one novella that I didn't expect but added it to the list above. Update Sept. 30th

 Since there is no way I am going to finish reading Unhinged today so I decided to do my last update for this challenge. I was able to read the 4 required novels and unfortunately no others. I was guilty of spending my time binge watching Downton Abbey instead of reading.

My Review

 Shatter me was a riveting and unique read with a fluent, evolving storyline told from the point of view of Juliette, a girl with a touch of death. She had been locked up by her parents and society in an asylum because they perceived her to be an uncontrollable threat. This sad, lonely girl that constantly debated her existence is eventually joined by a new cellmate, Adam. His was the first voice that she had heard in a year. It's the start of a string of events that will lead to Juliet discovering her own self worth for the first time in her life, and along with that the realization that not everyone that she touches will die.

 I seriously loved Juliette. I desperately wanted to give this girl a hug and tell her that I would be her friend. Her character was realistic with her thoughts and emotions. She has such a kind heart and is devastated over what effect she has on people. I was so happy for the connection between her and Adam, whom I adored.

 I did, however completely surprise myself by extremely liking the villain, Warner. Even though he is a somewhat crazy (and controlling) 19-year-old boy, I couldn't stop myself from getting excited when I read scenes that involved him. He had ambition and went for exactly what he wanted. Warner took meticulous care of his clothes and hygiene. I liked this. Also, he held himself with great composure, and it was hard to rattle his cage. I suspect it was the scene when he showed genuine concern for his mother, after just a mere mention of her, that sealed the deal on how much I like him. Seriously, I think I may be in love.

 Furthermore, I will add that I believed this book to be superbly fantastic! I flew through the pages, and I had a difficult time putting it down when it needed to be done. I highly recommend.

I give this a 5 out of 5 stars.

 Making this list took a little bit of thinking. When I discover an author that I like I tend to continue reading their books or binge read a whole series. Think of authors that I only read one of their books involved me needed to research my Goodreads list (thank goodness for Goodreads). Here's what I came up with.


1. Jessica Khroury
 I loved Origin, and I would really like to try Vitro.

2. Jodi Lynn Anderson
 Tiger Lily may not be one of my favourite books, but I truly was in awe of the authors beautiful writing. 

3. Brandon Sanderson
 Steelheart was an amazing novel, and I haven't heard any bad reviews about this authors fabulous books.

4. Cristin Terrill
 All Our Yesterdays was a thrilling, time travel, dystopian YA novel. I would like to read more from her.

5. C. J. Hill
 I am such a sucker for a futuristic, time travel, sci fi story. Erasing Time did not disappoint me one bit. I actually finally got myself a copy of Echo in Time, I can't wait to start it!

6. Amy Plum
 I adored After the End and have always wanted to try her Revenants series.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile? 
I'm actually pretty old fashioned with my TBR. I write the titles of all the books I want to someday read in a notebook (Hilroy scribbler to be exact) and just scratch out the ones that I've read. Not a very good system I know, but it works for me.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook? 
Mostly ebooks. They're cheaper and easier to get than getting to the bookstore and buying.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
My mood often depicts what I want to read. The only exception to that rule is when I have a deadline for certain books.

 This series included so many elements that made it one of my top favourite series of all time. I loved the science fiction, mystery, world building, characters and premise. Lol I think that covers it all! These books are awesome, and I was sad when I finished reading them.
