Changeling by Philippa Gregory
When I first heard that Philippa Gregory had a young adult novel coming out I was so excited. She is my author of historical fiction and I really hyped myself up about it. Then I read it. This was my reaction...
Hugely disappointed!
The writing just didn't have the magic that her other novels had and it was pretty bland in comparison. There was a little bit of mystery and a conspiracy but I found the story to be boring and underdeveloped. This is certainly not a book that I would recommend.

I know how it feels like being so excited in buying new books and then you eventually end up getting disappointed :( I've been experiencing that a lot nowadays.

Oh no! I love Philippa Gregory! I have to agree that she's my go to for historical fiction as well. Bummer. I guess we'll just have to stick to her adult novels - those have always worked for me anyway :)

Oh I'm sorry you didn't like this one! I have it on my shelf as I, too, really love reading her books. I got this one for free in a giveaway and didn't even know she wrote young adult. But I guess I'll have to see how I like it

The last book I read that I didn't like was Summoned by Rainy Kaye. It wasn't a bad book, but it just didn't work for me. There was this big mystery and build-up, but it took some time to develop and it was just mission after mission, with hints dropped that where so vague you couldn't figure out what was going on. I couldn't connect with the characters. The concept is really original though and the ending was done well.
