Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos. It’s been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. Everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed. But there may be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to act on his vision—no more Phydus, no more lies. But when Elder learns shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed.
They must work together to unlock a mystery that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier. Their success—or failure—will determine the fate of the 2,298 passengers aboard Godspeed. But with each step, the journey becomes more perilous, the ship more chaotic, and the love between them more impossible to fight. Beth Revis catapulted readers into the far reaches of space with her New York Times bestselling debut, Across the Universe. In A Million Suns, Beth deepens the mystery with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.
My Review (contains spoilers from the last book)
Amy and Elders story continues in A Million Suns, three months following in the events in Across the Universe. Elder is now the leader of the people living in Godspeed. He has taken everyone off of the submissive drug phydus but not everyone is happy about it. Now clear headed, the people are becoming restless. There are food shortages, violence and talk of mutiny. So when Elder discovers a horrifying secret that contradicts everything that he and his people believed their whole lives,he fears chaos.
Amy is still not being excepted by the mono-ethnic group of people aboard the ship. They still see her as a freak due to her completely different appearance. Because of their hostility she, understandably, feels extremely unsafe. The only thing she has to occupy her time, besides a very busy Elder, is a series of cleverly hidden clues left specifically for her from Orion. It is through these clues that they discover what secrets Godspeed is still hiding, which has Amy hoping that she might just get to see her family again.
I loved the first story but this one is even better. Murder, mayhem and secrets is a fantastic combination that makes you stay up reading long past your bedtime. Amy and Elders budding romance was sweetly written, I was rooting for them to get together from the start.
I give this a 5 out of 5 stars :-)
